The Standing Committee on Welfare and Service Matters would like to announce that IEM has recently established a unit called 'Technical Advisory Services for the Community'. We are now in the process of registering members who are willing to volunteer their expertise and services for the improvement of social amenities, basic utilities, or needy development projects in places that need our services such as rural villages. In doing so, we hope to build up a list of experts/experienced engineers to serve the Community which we believe should be able to enhance the image of the profession and Institution.

ON VOTING PAPERS FOR COUNCIL ELECTION SESSION 2008/2009
Notice inviting nominations
for the Election of Council Member for Session 2008/2009 will be posted on the
IEM Notice Board and on the website for the information of all Corporate
Members. Following the close of nominations on 1 February 2008, the election
exercise will proceed. All Corporate Members residing overseas are requested to
take note of the requirements of Bylaw section 5.11
| The voting paper shall, not less than twenty-eight (28) clear days
before the date of the Annual General Meeting be sent by post to all
Corporate Members residing in Malaysia and to any other Corporate
Members who may in writing request to have the paper forwarded to him.
The voting paper shall be returned to the Honorary Secretary in a sealed
envelope so as to reach him by a specified date not less than seven (7)
days before the Annual General Meeting. |
It is
expected to send out the voting papers by 10 March 2008. Any Corporate
Members residing outside Malaysia, who wish to receive voting papers, are
advised to write to the Honorary Secretary on or before 1 February 2008.

to Obtain the Required 50 CPD Hours?
The Board of Engineers
Malaysia (BEM) has decided that all registered Professional Engineers, the PE’s,
are to chalk up a minimum of 50 CPD Hours a year as a condition for
re-registration, beginning from the year 2006 registration. CPD stands for

REFEREES
FOR VETTING OF IEM PUBLICATIONS
The Standing Committee on
Publications is revising the list of referees to assist in the vetting of
articles received from members and non-members. The referees should preferably
be at least Corporate Members of The Institution or graduates with higher
degrees. The aim of appointing the referee is to ensure and maintain a standard
in the IEM Publications namely the bulletin and the Journal. (Download Form)
